Florida native Julie Roach is a lover of life, yoga, standup paddling (SUP), and the travel and adventure that accompanies them. Certified with over 800 hours of yoga training, she jumped at the opportunity to develop her yoga class on the water.
On the board since 2009, Julie’s fun and adventurous spirit shines through every class she teaches. Finding the right balance with SUP, she has perfected a system that is safe, stable and enjoyable for everyone—from beginners to athletes. “Safety is vital,’” says Julie. “As an instructor, I am responsible for everyone’s well-being and an enjoyable experience.”
Julie is a certified Level-2 SUP instructor through the American Canoe Association (ACA), which provides one of the most thorough and established watersports certifications. She is also certified to teach SUP through the World Paddle Association (WPA) and is lifeguard-certified by the American Red Cross in First Aid and CPR.
The H2yO Yoga & Fitness instructor training program is a cutting-edge opportunity for those who are certified SUP instructors, in addition to being yoga or fitness professionals. “H2yO is a yoga system I have developed over the past three years. Keeping in mind the sport of SUP is still new to many; this program has been practiced to perfection so that everyone can participate.” H2YO instructors go through rigorous physical safety and yoga training and application process. Currently 32 instructors are certified in the USA 2013.
